66. A Walk With Jesus pt 12

Jesus finishes speaking in parables for the time and his disciples decide to travel to the other side of the sea of Galilee when a sudden storm came upon them.

"And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?" Mark 4:37-38

The disciples must have been fighting the storm fearing for their very lives. Terrified and frantically struggling against the beating waves; and Jesus is SLEEPING! Doesn't He know we can't swim? Doesn't He know there is a storm and the boat is breaking under the waves?! "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?"

"He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

And He said to them, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?"

They became very much afraid and said to one another, "Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?"
Mark 4:39-41

Application:
The Law of Non-Contradiction States that: It is not possible that something be both true and not true at the same time and in the same context. "Who then is this?" indeed, that even the laws of nature yield to the commanding voice of Jesus. The disciples noticed something very different about this man. He can be full of grace and full of truth (John 1:14), and He can be both God and Man, but Jesus Christ cannot be God and not God at the same time; either He IS or He is not; He cannot be both. Jesus did not leave that up for us to interpret, the apostles gave us no room to decide for ourselves, the Bible is clear; Jesus is God in the flesh. I understand the doubts; so does He. I understand the questions; I've asked them myself. But a choice must be made when one encounters a road with a forked end; either we call Him a liar and a lunatic or we acknowledge Him as God and worship Him. There is no middle ground, He did not come to give us that option.
