45. Focus

"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
Hebrews 12:2

Jesus, what am i doing? I am so easily distracted by all of the fleeting things of this world. My eyes are like the clock's pendulum; changing direction every second. Bring my eyes into focus on you, my Lord. I am thrilled to see the good things that You are doing in my life, but my focus is lost when i am concerned more with earthly blessings than spiritual ones. My eyes are blurry at best. What is the value of things rejoiced over, compared to knowing You and Your glory? ... dust. Nothing on earth satisfies for longer than a brief moment in time. Why than does my heart run after them? You alone have written salvation on my heart and have saved me from my sins, You alone possess the love that is better than life, and the earth is Yours and the fullness therein, so all comes from You. Yet all is for You and Your glory, and everything is to be given back to You for Your purposes. So even the gifts i receive from You be not for me, but rather for me to use to bring You honor and glory. You are the prize of those who live for You, what other name could I serve? So i pray, fix my eyes solely on You and Yourself crucified, may i desire to know nothing more than You and the nature of who You are. Jesus may my worship be authentic and genuine, worshiping You for who You are and for no other reason. Amen.
