53. A Walk With Jesus pt. 2

Day 2,
Jesus does something here, which i find really interesting.

And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. Mark 1:35

As you may recall, Jesus just spent his time last night healing the towns people of their sickness and exercising demons. By His deeds His fame had grown and the whole town was excited and astonished by Jesus. But Jesus does not sleep in, He's not waiting around for people to make Him breakfast before performing a few more miracles. Jesus instead wakes up while its still dark out and find a place to be alone and pray. Here our Lord truly sets the standard for us in our following, if Jesus woke up early to pray, shouldn't we?

And Simon and those with him searched for Him.
And finding Him, they said to Him, "All are seeking You."
And He said to them, "Let us go into the neighboring towns, that I may proclaim there also. For it was for this I came forth." Mark 1:36-38

Jesus did not let fame and glory distract Him from His mission here on earth. Pride had no place in the life of Christ. Pride says to, "sleep in, you deserve it" or "Receive the glory, you earned it." Pride will always distract us from God's calling.

Is spending time with God our first priority? Are we even willing to wake up very early in the morning just to seek His face? Jesus is the perfect example of how we are too live, putting God first, before the day has time to distract us. Before Satan has the opportunity to cloud our vision, before pride sets in and we become deceptively self-sufficient, are we going to battle on our knees before the Lord? Each day is a choice, me or Jesus? Who are you living for, which Lord will you choose?

Let us together be strengthened as one body, choosing this day to serve Jesus.
